No sweat: Obamas work fitness into daily routine
Many women recoil at the thought of baring their arms in sleeveless dresses or blouses, but not Michelle Obama — half of the fabulously fit new first couple. Both President-elect Barack Obama and the future first lady have exercise routines that would put most people to shame. Michelle Obama used to join a pal for 4:30 a.m. workouts, and Barack Obama usually starts his day in the gym. Michelle Obama has hosted "The View," been interviewed on "60 Minutes," graced the cover of Newsweek and h

The Fundamentals
Mike Moreau of HOOPSWORLD: “Now as we compare both in the current day, with LeBron in Year 6 and Kobe in Year 13, Kobe is still the better individual defender and a consistently better foul shooter. James is the better rebounder, passer and a more dominant physical presence. He has also consistently been a better teammate and better leader. Last shot to win the game? Right now, it’s The Black Mamba. No one strikes more fear at crunch time, which may be the best comparison of every when trying to

Mom Confessions
So our two boys, ages 7 and 8, have been allowed to join way too many activities this year. (Clearly their parents need more restraint.) I’m generally the type to be very careful about how much they’re in because, on top of believing that kids need to have time to be kids and just play, I also believe that it takes very little running around and trying to be responsible for things to go absolutely ape-shit crazy. So this year we’d planned it out. Both boys would be in soccer from through t

A fabooolous visit - Part deux
After a few glasses of Prosecco Petey & Asta had an ingenious idea of suggesting that every the pawrents or "two leggeds" as (*sigh*) Eric would say...insert dream sequence here...oh! anyway! Petey and Asta suggested that the bi-peds go and fetch something to eat. So off they went to some frenchy french restaurant - Mom said that she had the best steak sandwich and frites ever! I, of course, would not know because apparently she didn't even think to keep a crumb for me. Here is a picture o

Smith gets his hundred
Proteas captain and opening batsman Graeme Smith scored his 17th Test century today. He reached his hundred in the third session of the first day’s play in the first Test against Bangladesh. It was his first hundred in four games against the Bangladeshis, against whom he averages 67. Importantly for the Proteas, it showed that Smith has recovered from the tennis elbow injury which he suffered in England earlier this year.

Leighton Meester and Ed Westwick Both Shilling for Sneakers
In an ideal world, if Leighton Meester and Ed Westwick, the young actors who play the bad but secretly good Blair Waldorf and Chuck Bass on Gossip Girl, were to appear in an ad campaign, it would be for Marc Jacobs or Miu Miu or even Chanel; those are just the nice of labels we imagine Chuck and Blair promoting. But somehow, Mr. Westwick’s and Ms. Meester’s agents don’t seem to receive every of this. And instead of a high-end, Chuck-and-Blair-appropriate ad campaign, both Ms. Meester and Mr. Westw

Me? A Writer?
The confession -- or revelation -- that one writes, always prompts some nice of response from others. Is is a hobby? A career? A worthwhile pursuit? How can one know for certain? Q) I have been writing on and off for most of my life. Nothing published, and frankly, nothing close to being published. Recent conversations with loved ones (read husband and parents) make me wonder if I am wasting my time; I spend at least three or four hours a week on my writing. How do I know if I'm just wasting my

Colourful Wii Remote straps
November 19, 2008 at 02:55 PM Heres a picture of some chilly colourful Wii Remote straps that I picked up recently. If you have ever played four player tennis or bowling on the Wii you will know how easy it is to receive your Wii Remotes mixed up on timeouts. Here is a simple solution, four different colour straps (green, blue, pink and white) guaranteed to let you know which remote is yours. Now every that is left to argue about is which colour you will receive. Dibs on blue!

Murray, Djokovic, and Tsonga serve notice for the Australian Open
Novak Djokovic has ended 2008 the way he began it. Last Sunday, the Serbian world number three added the prestigious season ending Masters Cup to the Australian Open trophy he collected in January with an emphatic victory over Nikolay Davydenko in the final. The Masters Cup is arguably the next most coveted title after the four Grand Slams, pitting the top eight players in a season ending round robin play-off. The whole top eight didn’t play this year though, with Andy Roddick and, most sign
